White Martians were a species native to Mars.
History[]
Thousands of years ago, the White Martians were participating in a civil war against the Green Martians, both wanting control over planet Mars. Another species, the Largas, choose the Martians as keepers of the key to the weapon Warworld due to the impossibility of both of them ever working together. They placed two halves of the key into the DNA of the Whites and the Greens each. After the civil war had ended, and only one representative of each species was left alive, the Last White Martian and the last Green one J'onn J'onzz, both went separate ways. While J'onn went to the near planet Earth-1, the last white one wandered the universe until he came across the bounty hunter Lobo, who later told J'onn J'onzz that there were still Martians left in the universe. In 2023, the last White one, along with other Whites from other universes, had joined the dictator of Warworld, Mongul, and J'onn was taken prisoner by Lobo, who brought him to upon him, who hoped to be able to use Warworld finally. J'onzz, however, did not tell him how to find the key and was instead used to telepathically induce the prisoners of Warworld into unending terror and violence in order to power the planet. During this time, though, J'onn contacted the last White Martian telepathically, and together, they formed a plan when members of the Justice League arrived to help J'onn, the two of them fused together into one singular being and therefore combined their DNA and formed the key to Warworld, initiating its self-destruction and unfortunately ending both their lives, as well as their species' legacies.

Trivia[]
- White Martians were created by Dennis O'Neil and Dick Dillin and first appeared in DC comics in Justice League of America #71 in May 1969.
- In the comics, the Martian Civil War ends more in favor of the White Martians, with them ruling over Mars and what little remained of the Green Martians.
- Like the Green Martians, the Whites are afraid of fire. In the comics, this was psychologically induced by the Guardians of the Universe, who wanted to give a species as powerful as the Martians a weakness and prevent them from becoming burning Martians.
- The White Martians' telepathic capabilities seem to be weaker than the Green Martians due to J'onn J'onzz being needed to subdue the prisoners of Warworld, instead of one of the thousands of whites present.
