Kara Zor-El was a Kryptonian superhero and the cousin of Superman and daughter of Alura Zor-El.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Kara was born 1979 on the planet Krypton in Argo City to Alura Zor-El and Zor-El. As she came of age, her cousin was born, who she would babysit from time to time.

Bonding with her Mother[]

One day, Alura took Kara to a park and goaded her into a one-on-one foot race. Gaining the advantage, Kara's eagerness wins her the race despite she and Alura's attempts to cheat. As she boasts her victory, Alura relaxes on a materialized park bench. Having a drink she materializes, Kara is commended by Alura for her perfected form during her jog. Kara cheekily brings up that she's been practicing her morning runs and offers to give her mother pointers. Alura says she could join but has her many duties involving the oversight of Argo City, the Science Council, as well as the Military Guild. All of which discourage Kara. She wishes she could see Alura more often if it weren't for Alura's commitments. Seeing her daughter down, Alura promises to make time for Kara. When Alura brings up that Kara will soon be busy, Kara almost immediately assumes she's gonna be saddled with babysitting her newborn cousin. Much to her surprise, Kara is presented with a Krypton Guild Cadet badge. Kara is happy that Alura finalized her application for the Guild.

Krypton's Destruction[]

When the destruction of Krypton's began, Kara Zor-El was one of the only two surviving Kryptonians left in the Universe. As the planet of Krypton exploded, a chunk of debris struck Kara's pod hard enough to knock her unconscious and send her vessel off-course and into the Phantom Zone, a region in space where the concept of time is nonexistent. It later turned out she was rescued by the Monitor Mar Novu, though livid that he couldn't prevent Krypton's destruction due to his code of non-interference. Kara was raised by Mar Novu until she eventually found her way to Earth. By then, decades had passed and she was found by her now grown-up cousin, Kal-El, who had become the hero Superman.

Life on Earth[]

Inspired by her cousin, Kara tried to use the powers she gained from Earth's yellow sun for good and teamed up with her cousin to fight the undead Zombie Solomon Grundy, but was unable to fully control her powers. Because the vigilante Batman considered her to be a threat to those around her, Superman took her to the 31st century, where Kara was assigned to train with the Legion of Super-Heroes at their Academy. There, she encountered a mysterious group known as the Dark Circle and came into conflict with one of the Legion's members, Brainiac 5.

Joining the Legion[]

Becoming Harbringer[]

When Mar Novu learned on the impending Crisis to befall the Multiverse, motivated by her words of letting her world die to end his neutrality, he approaches Kara and transforms her into Harbringer to recruit various people to stop the Crisis.

Personality[]

Although she may be bratty, sassy, strong-willed and rough around the edges, Kara is very sweet, caring, loving, and compassionate to the ones she loves.

Physical Appearance[]

Kara is a tall attractive, fair-skinned teenager girl with a toned yet curvaceous and muscular build. She has blue eyes, black eyebrows, two-tone maroon lips, and long blonde hair.

Prior to her home planet's destruction, Kara wore a skintight navy blue Kryptonian bodysuit with lighter accents, the House of El crest in the center of her chest, and had her hair tied up in a high ponytail when out jogging with her mom Alura.

As Supergirl, she wears a dark-color themed version of her cousin's Superman suit; consisting of a long-sleeved dark-periwinkle top, with the House of El symbol placed on the chest area, as well a short, maroon-red cape attached at the back. She also wore a pair of maroon-red thigh-high boots with the top being yellow, with the only difference is that she sports a short, maroon-red skirt with pale yellow trim around the waist.

Powers[]

  • Kryptonian Physiology: Under the effects of a "yellow" sun, Kara possesses the same potential powers as an average Kryptonian. These include:
    • Solar Energy Absorption: Kara's cellular structure allows her to absorb, store and metabolize the wavelength of yellow sun radiation to fuel all of her abilities. Direct exposure to sunlight will also accelerate her absorption rate.
    • Heat Vision: Kara can project red energy beams from her eyes. She can vary the heat and area affected.
    • Super-Hearing: Kara's hearing is sensitive enough to hear any sound at any volume or pitch. With skill and concentration, she can block out ambient sounds to focus on a specific source or frequency.
    • Enhanced Vision: Kara's vision processes the entire electromagnetic spectrum as well as allowing vast control over selective perception and focus. This umbrella ability includes the following:
      • Electromagnetic Spectrum Vision: Kara can see well into the entire electromagnetic spectrum, able to interpret and differentiate between the various forms and types of energy in fields, rays, waves, signals and frequencies. This includes from electronic transmissions, radiations, ultraviolet, and cosmic essence. Using this ability, she can avoid detection by radar or satellite monitoring methods.
      • Telescopic Vision: This is the ability to see something at a great distance, without violating the laws of physics. Though limited, the exact extent of the ability is undetermined. In function, it is similar to the zoom lens on a camera.
      • X-Ray Vision: This is the ability to see through any volume of matter except lead. Karas can see things behind a solid, opaque object as if it were not there. She can focus this ability to "peel back" layers of an object, allowing hidden image or inner workings to be observed.
      • Microscopic Vision: Kara possesses the ability to see extremely small objects and images beyond subatomic level.
      • Infrared Vision: Kara can see with better acuity in darkness, and to a degree in total darkness.
    • Flight: By harnessing and manipulating gravitons, Kara is able to defy gravity which enables her to fly. Kara's flight speeds are supersonic.
    • Invulnerability: Kara possesses extraordinary physical durability, which her electromagnetic field extends to her clothing. In addition, she extends this protection against toxins and diseases.
      • Enhanced Immunity
    • Superhuman Stamina: Kara is able to maintain continuous strenuous physical action for an indefinite period of time. This based on her body converting yellow solar radiation directly to energy, but is limited by physiological and psychological needs to eat, drink, and sleep.
    • Superhuman Strength: Kara possesses tremendous physical strength, the exact limits of which are unknown. Her electromagnetic field keeps objects from crumbling under their own weight. Brainiac believed her to be the only one in the 31st century, aside from Mon-El, strong enough to threaten his reign. Her punches in her fight with Mon-El caused massive shockwaves, and she eventually managed to overwhelm him.
    • Superhuman Speed: Kara is capable of running and moving at supersonic speeds, her electromagnetic field protecting her from the forces of friction.
      • Superhuman Agility: Kara's natural balance, agility, and body coordination are enhanced to superhuman levels.
      • Superhuman Reflexes: Kara's speed extends to her reflexes as well.
    • Superhuman Breath: Thanks to her incredible lung capacity, Kara is also able to draw in large amounts of air and then expel it all to create gale and hurricane force winds. She can also chill her breath to freeze targets.
    • Accelerated Healing: If injured Supergirl's accelerated healing factor can heal her to a certain degree, especially in direct sunlight.
      • Longevity: Supergirl's healing factor also keeps her in optimal health and decreases the rate of her aging by a high degree granting her a life span that is several millennia long.

Weaknesses[]

  • Inexperience:
  • Vulnerability to Kryptonite: The effects of green kryptonite are poisonous to Supergirl and greatly weaken her. This was seen when Mon-El stabbed her with a kryptonite dagger, bypassing her invulnerability, and causing her to fall to the ground and nearly faint.
