Early Life[]
Kal-El was born 1979 on the planet Krypton to Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van.[1] His parents placed him in a rocket ship and launched him to Earth as their planet was exploding. His rocket would land in Smallville, Kansas, where he would be found by Jonathan and Martha Kent.
Becoming Superman[]
At the age of 24, Clark became the superhero known as Superman or, as the public initially named him, "The Flying Man", during his early days into his career as a reporter for the Daily Planet. He worked with Lois Lane on covering an orbital rocket telescope that was made by LexCorp.[1]
Encounter with Martian Manhunter[]
J'onn made contact with this Kryptonian after he had observed him for some time and even saved his life in his fight against the Czarnian bounty hunter Lobo. Although their first meeting did not start off very well due to him using his telepathic abilities on Clark‘s father, after a short confrontation, they went inside the Kent Farm and quickly became friends.
J'onn searched through Clark's mind and found memories of Krypton and his parents. He showed him how to activate the Kryptonian Hologram Projector that his parents found on the ship that brought him to Earth. They discussed whether or not it would be wise for them to reveal themselves to the rest of the world. While Clark wanted to do so in the hope that it might improve things for them and other aliens, J'onn, remembering his people and their downfall, advised him to stay hidden.
Fight with Parasite[]
Days later, the former janitor Rudy Jones, now known as Parasite, was rampaging in Metropolis. Clark, having received the name Superman from the reporter Lois Lane, tried to stop him, along with Martian Manhunter. J'onn distracted Parasite in order to lure him away from the train he was attacking. While Superman was fighting him, J'onn was able to bring everyone on the train to safety. After Parasite gained the upper hand and absorbed Superman’s powers, J'onn intervened, saving Clark. Parasite started absorbing J'onn's powers before using Superman’s heat vision to incarcerate J'onn. However, J'onn had used his telepathic abilities to project all of this into everyone’s minds so that they thought he was dead.
After having recovered, Martian Manhunter once again aided Superman by stopping Lex Luthor from torturing him with a Kryptonite magnifying pulse rifle. He then pursued Lex while Clark tried to stop Parasite. After he had captured Lex, J'onn witnessed how Clark proudly presented himself to the human race. After Parasite had been defeated, Clark, J‘onn, and Lobo met on the roof of the Daily Planet and reflected on the past events. During their conversation, Lobo mentioned how the whole “last of its kind“ title was only a saying and that there were other Martians out there, and maybe even some Kryptonians. As he flew away on his spacehog, Clark advised J'onn to follow him and seek out the other Martians, which he then did.
Meeting Batman and helping Supergirl[]
A new threat[]
When Batman and Superman investigate a massive laser-destroyed hole in the middle of Metropolis, Batman and Superman are struck by a zeta beam, leaving their fates unknown.[2]

Powers[]
- Kryptonian Physiology: Under the effects of a "yellow" sun, Superman possesses the same potential powers as an average Kryptonian. These include:
- Solar Energy Absorption: Superman's cellular structure allows him to absorb, store, and metabolize the wavelength of yellow sun radiation to fuel all of his abilities. Direct exposure to sunlight will also accelerate his absorption rate. As The Flying Man, Clark discovered that this is the source of his powers when he pushed a rocket into space. He also used it to heal himself extremely fast when he was severely injured by Lobo.
- Heat Vision: Superman can project red energy beams from his eyes. He can vary the heat and the area affected. As The Flying Man, he first used this ability to disintegrate the electric-alien organisms that Lobo shot at him. He used it to push Lobo far away and hard enough to crack a wall. He also used it to keep Lobo from getting close to him during their fight at the Star Labs parking lot. At home with his parents, Clark used his heat vision to heat up a cup of coffee. During his first fight with Parasite, Superman fired his heat vision at Parasite hard enough to flip him and also to blast rubble out of the tar between him and Parasite. After his first battle with Parasite, Clark used this ability to heat up a glass of water. In their last fight, Superman blasted the now oversized Parasite with intense energy from his heat vision. While battling Brainiac, Superman used this ability to destroy Brainiac's robots. He also used his heat vision to destroy a huge metal door on Warworld.
- Superhuman Hearing: Superman's hearing is sensitive enough to hear any sound at any volume or pitch. With skill and concentration, he can block out ambient sounds to focus on a specific source or frequency. Clark first used this ability when he was still young; he was capable of hearing his parents' discussion about him a few yards away while he was indoors. During his fight with Lobo at Star Labs, the Flying Man was able to hear the heartbeat of Rudy Jones, the Star Labs janitor, from several feet below him. While in a vehicle with his parents, Clark heard someone enter the Kents' compound from several miles away.
- Enhanced Vision: Superman's vision processes the entire electromagnetic spectrum as well as allowing vast control over selective perception and focus. This umbrella ability includes the following:
- Electromagnetic Spectrum Vision: Superman can see well into the entire electromagnetic spectrum, able to interpret and differentiate between the various forms and types of energy in fields, rays, waves, signals, and frequencies. This includes electronic transmissions, radiation, ultraviolet radiation, and cosmic essence. Using this ability, he can avoid detection by radar or satellite monitoring methods.
- Telescopic Vision: This is the ability to see something at a great distance without violating the laws of physics. Though limited, the exact extent of the ability is undetermined. In function, it is similar to the zoom lens of a camera.
- X-Ray Vision: This is the ability to see through any volume of matter except lead. Superman can see things behind a solid, opaque object as if it were not there. He can focus this ability to "peel back" layers of an object, allowing hidden images or inner workings to be observed. During the launch at Star Labs, Clark used his x-ray vision to search the Star Labs sublevels. While confronting The Stranger, Clark also used this ability to search for the compound for The Stranger.
- Microscopic Vision: Superman possesses the ability to see extremely small objects and images beyond subatomic level.
- Infrared Vision: Superman can see with better acuity in darkness, and to a degree in total darkness.
- Flight: By harnessing and manipulating gravitons, Superman is able to defy gravity, which enables him to fly. Superman's flight speeds are supersonic. The Flying Man used this ability to fly up to the Watchtower, which went haywire. He was also capable of flying into space. Throughout his fight with Lobo, he employed this ability to gain the upper hand. During his confrontation with The Stranger, Clark used his flight ability as well. Clark also used this ability to fly out of his parents' house. Superman was able to use this ability during his fights with Parasite. Superman was seen flying to meet with J'onn J'onzz on the roof of the Daily Planet and flew off when Lois Lane came to meet him there. While battling Brainiac, Superman also used this ability. Superman flew fast enough to hit Solomon Grundy. During an investigation with Batman, Superman flew fast enough to shield Batman from the zeta beam.
- Invulnerability: Due to the interaction of his dense molecular structure and supercharged bio-electric aura, Superman is nigh-invulnerable to extreme energy forces. In addition, he extends this protection against toxins and diseases. As The Flying Man, he was capable of withstanding the energy blast from Lobo's gun, was unharmed by the electric surge from the electric-alien-organisms, pushed Lobo (who was on his sky-bike) with so much force that Lobo fell into a construction building without any harm to himself, survived the explosion and flames from Lobo's grenade without any scratch on his body, able to tank multiple metal blades from Lobo's bazooka without a single cut, took punches and kicks from Lobo (who is superhumanly strong) with little to no pain felt, stood up after being thrown onto the pillar in a construction building by Lobo like it was nothing, wasn't harmed when Lobo hit him with his chain, also didn't feel any pain when Lobo's sky-bike hit him, was completely unfazed when Lobo caused him to crash land into Star Labs, he was unharmed when Lobo used him to hit the floor in Star Labs, didn't feel any pain when Lobo punched him hard enough to put a hole in the wall at Star Labs, survived multiple punches from Lobo with a kryptonite ring (although he was severely weakened and injured). Superman was unfazed when the Parasite hit him hard enough to send him tumbling, and also survived getting drained by Parasite on two occasions (though he was extremely weak), took a sonic blast from Parasite and hit a building with little pain only because he was already weak. Superman wasn't hurt when Brainiac blasted him into a building, was unfazed by a high electric voltage from Brainiac's robots, tanked an energy beam from Brainiac's machine like it was nothing. Survived a zeta beam blast (though this rendered him unconscious). Took a high energy surge from the staff of an alien with little discomfort, Superman was seen capable of withstanding multiple energy beams from the guns of a group of White Martians without any ill effects.
- Enhanced Immunity: Kal-El's immune system is greatly enhanced to levels far above that of humans. He can survive in environments that would kill a human. He flew into space without any effect, was engulfed in flames but felt no discomfort.
- Superhuman Stamina: Superman is able to maintain continuous strenuous physical action for an indefinite period of time. This is based on his body being capable of converting yellow solar radiation directly to energy. Due to his alien physiology and his body's ability to metabolize the energy of a yellow star, Clark's cells generate extremely low levels of fatigue toxins. Superman is almost incapable of exhaustion, as a result, he can engage in strenuous activities for prolonged periods of time without any signs of fatigue. He was able to push a rocket into space without tiring, fight Lobo for several minutes without needing to rest, confronted J'onn J'onzz (who is also extremely strong and durable) for a few minutes with little effort, didn't show any signs of tiredness during his fight with Parasite (even when the later has severely drained him of energy). Fought Brainiac and his robots without showing signs of fatigue. Engage a group of White Martians in battle without exhaustion.
- Superhuman Strength: Superman possesses tremendous physical strength, the exact limits of which are unknown. His electromagnetic field keeps objects from crumbling under their own weight. He is able to fight beings like Lobo to a standstill. As The Flying Man, he was capable of pushing a large rocket into space, throw Lobo (who is also superhumanly strong) into a building, push Lobo with enough force to send him crashing into a construction building, able to destroy Lobo's bazooka with a single throw, punched Lobo with one hand hard enough to send him flying several yards away, punch him hard enough to form a crater on the floor of a construction building with one hand, shattered Lobo's chain with ease, throw Lobo with so much force to crater the ground of Star Labs parking lot, punched Lobo in the face enough to make him bleed, hit Lobo on the parking lot hard enough to form numerous cracks, threw Lobo into the air with one hand and punched him into the sky then kicked him so hard with one leg to send him to space, punched Lobo hard enough with one hand to cause a massive shockwave which eventually knocked Lobo unconscious. Superman was able to punch Brainiac's robots hard enough to destroy them. Superman hit Solomon Grundy with a combination of speed and strength enough to send him tumbling, punched Grundy hard enough to send him into the air, hold his leg with one hand, and used him to hit the ground forming a massive crater on the street. Clark pushed a man with enough force to damage a machine, with help from Wonder Woman, Superman used his superhuman strength to open a huge door of alien metal.
- Superhuman Speed: Superman is capable of running and moving at supersonic speeds, with his electromagnetic field protecting him from the forces of friction. Combined with his flight, the Flying Man was able to keep up with the speed of a rocket, he moved fast enough to hit Lobo's bazooka without Lobo seeing him, moved very fast to punch Lobo with a powerful force that produced a shockwave, was fast enough to escape the blast from Lobo's grenade, moved fast in a circular motion to spin Lobo. Superman moved fast enough to be in front of Parasite in mere seconds, he also moved fast enough to briefly dodge Parasite's energy beam. He could punch Brainiac's robots before they could get to him, and was able to outpace Brainiac's energy beam. Superman moved so fast that he hit Solomon Grundy without Grundy seeing him, and appeared in front of Batman in just a second.
- Superhuman Agility: Superman's natural balance, agility, and body coordination are enhanced to superhuman levels. Superman can use his enhanced agility skillfully. As evident during his fight with Lobo, his second fight with Parasite, his fight with Brainiac, his brief encounter with Solomon Grundy, and his battle with the white Martians.
- Superhuman Reflexes: Superman's speed extends to his reflexes as well. Superman's reflexes has enabled him to dodge fast-moving objects and individuals.
- Superhuman Breath: Thanks to his incredible lung capacity, Superman is also able to draw in large amounts of air and then expel it all to create gale and hurricane-force winds. He can also chill his breath to freeze targets. Superman used his super-breath to push two white Martians far away and hard enough to hit a wall.
- Accelerated Healing: If injured Superman's accelerated healing factor can heal him to a certain degree, especially in direct sunlight. As the Flying Man, he was able to heal extremely fast when he flew to space after being severely injured by a combination of punches from Lobo and kryptonite radiation. Superman was capable of healing despite the fact that Parasite drained much of his energy. While heating up a glass of water, Clark accidentally injured his hand but was able to heal immediately even when he was low on energy.
- Longevity: Superman's healing factor also keeps him in optimal health and decreases the rate of his aging by a high degree granting him a life span that is several millennia long. Though Earth-2 Superman specifically notes that while they age slowly, they aren't immortal.
- Self-Sustenance: Superman doesn't need to eat or sleep so long as he has enough solar energy (but is still capable of doing so) and doesn't require oxygen to breathe.
Abilities[]
- Gifted Intelligence: Superman has demonstrated incredible intelligence; his mind processes information at an exceptionally high rate compared to humans. This has allowed him to make intelligent and quick decisions, such as: when he propelled a rocket into space to prevent its explosion in Metropolis, which would have harmed several people. He lured Lobo to Star Labs to contain him there. He allowed Parasite to drain his energy to give him a weakness. He teamed up with the Flash to fight Brainiac in order to stop him without causing casualties. He attacked Grundy so swiftly that Grundy did not see him coming, minimizing collateral damage and saving time.
- Expert Combatant: As a result of having superpowers all his life and his battles with various enemies, Superman has proven to be a proficient hand-to-hand combatant. This can be seen in his fight with Lobo, with Grundy, and during his battle with the White Martians. If he continues to improve his skills, he will become even better and be able to gain the upper hand during battles with his foes.
- Brilliant Journalist: Clark Kent is a young and intelligent journalist. This is proven true when he (as Superman) used what Lois Lane had told him about "power moves" on her to cancel and reschedule their interview.
Weaknesses[]
Superman has shown a few known weaknesses to date:
- Solar Energy Dependency: Superman's abilities will gradually weaken if he does not recharge his cells with yellow solar radiation. This is shown to be true when he was extremely drained by the Parasite; he needed to go into space and come into direct contact with sunlight to heal himself.
- Vulnerability to Kryptonite: The effects of green kryptonite are poisonous to Superman and greatly weaken him. This was seen when Lobo used a kryptonite ring to punch him and rendered him so depleted of energy that he had to fly to space to charge his cells.

Trivia[]
- The scene in the climax of Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Three where Superman bellows in anguish, while holding a dead Supergirl in his arms, could be reminiscent of the iconic cover from Crisis on Infinite Earths, Vol. 1, Issue #7. From behind the scenes, his voice actor, Darren Criss, was able to perfectly pull off that bellow.
