Becoming The Flash[]
At some point, Barry Allen was struck by a lightning and became connected to the Speed Force, which turned him into a speedster, giving him super speed and other powers. Barry then decided to use these powers for good and became the superhero known to the rest of the world only as the Flash. Over the years, he made many enemies and because of that, choose to keep both his identity as well as his girlfriend Iris West a secret, keeping her at distance in order to protect her.
Aiding Superman[]
One day, when Barry and Iris decided to visit Metroplis for a picnic, Iris asked him what exactly he wanted from her. Barry explained to her that his feelings for her were real, but because of his job as a superhero, it would be too dangerous for her to become a constant part of his life. Before they could say any more, they heard an explosion nearby and both of them knew he had to go and try to help. When arriving at the scene, now having changed into his suit, he found the local hero Superman in a fight against the Coluan criminal Brainiac, which he seemed to loose. He freed Superman from the alien's grip by throwing a stone at one of Brainiac's Drones. They then decided to team up in order to take Brainiac down. As they battled, Brainiac aimed a Green Kryptonite bullet at the Kryptonian hero and shot at him, but Flash, already running towards Brainiac and away from the bullet, turned around in the last minute and caught it before it could hurt Superman. However, as soon as he had it, the Flash had run at such a high speed that he vibrated out of his own universe and entered the Speedforce, where a man in a golden helmet told him to keep running and so he did.
Arrival on Earth-2[]
As he continued to run, he accidentally entered another universe and as he arrived in France of this alternate earth, the Flash was immediately met with violence and death, as he had arrived at no other time than World War II. Before being able to fully understand the situation though, he was attacked by this world's Wonder Woman, an Amazonian warrior princess who fought in the war and mistook him for being a fighter for the Nazis. She compared his powers to that of Hermes and theorized that the Germans had made their own Flash, similar to the one who fought with her. However, they were both attacked by German planes and in order to be able to fight them, Wonder Woman ordered one of her team members, the Black Canary, to watch over him. However, she was unable to prevent the Flash from leaving when they heard civilians' nearby cries for help. He saved them from a group of Nazis but quickly noticed how he was out of breath, which, according to him, had never happened before. After that, the entire Justice Society, which was a team of American heroes operating there, consisting of Wonder Woman, Black Canary, their Flash whose name was Jay Garrick, Hawkman and Hourman, arrived and questioned Barry about who he was and why he was there, to which he responded that he came from the future, because he mistakenly assumed this world to be the 1940s of his universe. They were then interrupted when then saw their ally Steve Trevor's plane being shot at by enemy fighters. As he was crashing to the ground, Hawkman tried to save Steve, but Barry, having calculated the distance and Hawkman's wing span, knew he would not reach it in time, and ran towards it. He and Jay, who had followed him, used their arms, which they rotated at super speed, in order to create a vortex to slow down the plane. After Trevor was saved, the Society proceeded to change their minds about the trustworthiness of the Flash and stopped treating him as an enemy. They then proceeded to fight in the battle without the Flash's help, due to Jay telling him that if he in fact came from the future, that he was not allowed to intervene in past matters. As he saw the Justice Society fighting, Barry asked Steve Trevor why he had never heard of them before, to which Steve responded that they were top secret and as such, even had someone writing alternate stories in the newspapers, in order to keep them a secret.
Infiltration of the Nazi Castle[]
After the battle had been won by the Society, The Flash and Colonel Trevor entered the tent in which the heroes were discussing what Shakespeare, their war correspondent who seemed oddly familiar to him, should write in the next newspapers. Because the name the Flash was already taken, Dinah Lance, alias Black Canary, proposed to call him "Future Boy" which was accepted by Wonder Woman. They then all witnessed how Trevor proposed to Diana, who just replied that it was a good try. Confused about this, Barry asked the other Flash, Jay, what was going on, to which he replied that Steve proposed to her every day, and that she turned him down every day, though she supposedly promised to say yes one day. Their military escort then arrived and brought them to the headquarters, where they discussed whether the Flash should participate in the war or not. While some of them thought it to be a good idea, the two scientists of the group, Jay and Hourman, deemed it to dangerous for Barry to change the past, due to a possible paradox, though they wanted him to stay with them, for research purposes, effectively making him a member of the team. Colonel Trevor and Shakespeare then arrived and explained to them their newest mission. They had to extract a code cracker from a castle in Bavaria, who supposedly should be able to decipher an enemy code that they would use in order to prevent the Nazis from gaining further mystical artifacts. There, the Flash and Wonder Woman fought their way through enemy lines untilthey met with Steve and Shakespeare, who had found mostly dead and some barely allive prisoners, who had been tortured. Among those was also a young man, with a package, which contained Superman's costume, and gave it to Shakespeare, who also got shot by a Nazi fighter, who in turn got knocked out by Wonder Woman. When asked why he was still allive, Shakespeare revealed that he was in fact called Clark Kent. Barry then recognized him and asked him why he had followed him to the past, but Shakespeare replied that he didn’t know what he was talking about and generally showed uncharacteristic behavior for Superman. When asked about his parents, Shakespeare revealed that both Jonathan and Martha Kent had been killed when he was still young and that since then, he had always been uninterested in helping others. This was the moment when Flash realized that he was in fact not in the past, but rather in an alternative universe and seeked out to tell Jay about this discovery. When he arrived where the others were, he also recognized the supposed code cracker they had been searching, which the others had apparently found. Due to the golden helmt lying next to him, Batry was able to figure out that this was the person who guided him to this Earth in the first place and asked him why and what he was supposed to do. The man then replied that he was allowed to return, though he still had to do one more task and learm an important lesson. He also mentioned a certain "League", which Barry would seemingly not forget later. He then decoded the code for them and vanished.
Journey Under the Sea[]
Having decoded the coordinates on the message, the team quickly found out that they led to the Bermuda Triangle, so Steve acquired a military submarine for them. While arriving at their destination, the Justice Society realized that the Nazis were also present above them and were letting oil barrels sink down and explode next to them, in an attempt to kill the Americans. As they were hit by the explosions, the submarine’s engines were damaged and it started leaking. While the others didn’t know what to do, Barry acted quickly and fixed the leaks in the walls and vibrated his hand at such a high frequency, that it generated enough kinetic energy to restart the engines. Meanwhile, Wonder Woman had left the submarine in order to deal with the barrels still posing a threat, though there were too many for her to do it alone. Luckily, a group of Atlanteans aided her and then signaled the submarine to follow them to a nearby outpost. There, they were greeted by the king’s advisor, who led them to the throne room. There, they met king Arthur of Atlantis, also known as Aquaman. After Diana convinced him, he reluctantly agreed to help them and show them something that might proove useful for them. They followed him into an empty hall, but before any of them could do something, the king’s advisor pressed a button and activated a magical force field around them, imprisoning them. The advisor then revealed himself to be Human, who, while acting as a pirate, was saved by the Atlanteans after his ship got destroyed in a storm and then used his mind control powers to manipulate their king into joining the Nazis. He was also the one who sent them the decoded message, in an effort to lure them into a trap, in order to take the american superhuman team off the board and ensure a victory for the Germans, only for them to be eradicated by Atlantis in return. After they left them, the Jsa members tried to think of ways of escaping, though none of them seemed to find any. Then, after a conversation with Jay, who explained the concept of the speedforce to him and both helped and taught him to vibrate his molecules at a certain frequency, Barry was able to phase through the ground and was free. The Flash then freed the rest of the team, though not before interrogating one of the guards in order to learn more about Aquaman's plans. While the Justice Society went to their submarine in order to inform the government of an Atlantean attack, Wonder Woman and the Flash went after Aquaman, who according to the guard was planning on setting free multiple ancient Atlantean Creatures and use them for a war effort. There, Barry acted quickly and attacked Aquaman, using an Atlantean pressure suit in order to stay allive under water. Unfortunately, Wonder Woman was caught by surprise by the Advisor and turned against on his side briefly. She attacked Aquaman and after a short lived fight, she and Barry got defeated and Aquaman released the sea creatures, among them even a Kraken.
Battle Against Aquaman[]
After they recovered, the Flash and Wonder Woman followed them, until they reached the Atlantean forces just as they were attacking New York. While Wonder Woman went after Aquaman, Barry tried to fight the biggest of the sea creatures, the kraken, though it prooved to strong for him. Luckily, the Advisor's influence on Aquaman was lifted as soon as Diana destroyed his Trident and he commanded the large creature, as well as his forces back. The Flash then went into the city and arrived just in time to prevent the Advisor from striking a killing blow on Steve, after he severely wounded him. Trevor told him he was fine and even though Barry knew he was lying, he left him alone, in order to face yet another threat. The Nazis had ordered an air attack on New York and due to Hawkman's death, none of them were able to fly and prevent it. But then, Shakespeare, having shaved and now sporting the costume given to him, arrived and destroyed each of the planes, before landing next to them. After Barry proposed the name Superman for him, Hourman called the others to him and the dying Steve Trevor with him. He tried one last time to ask her if Diana wanted to marry him, but before she was able to answer, he succumbed to his wounds. Later, Barry was saying his goodbyes to the team before returning to his own universe, Diana gave Steve's ring to him, saying that if he had someone close, he should not wait until it was too late as she did. He and Jay then ran away and built up enough energy to throw Barry back to his universe.
Return to Earth-1 and Formation of the Justice League[]
After Jay helped gave him additional speed, Barry was able to return to his own universe, and not too late at that. He reappeared in precisely the exact moment he had previously vanished and grabbed the bullet and threw it back at Brainiac. It impaled Brainiac's head and he fell to the ground, seemingly dying. After having thanked the Flash for his assistance, Superman then wanted to leave in order to focus on other threats but the Barry asked him to stay. Having been inspired by the Justice Society, he wanted to form a team of his own for their universe and asked Superman to think about it, mentioning that there surely were other threats such as Brainiac out there. It was at that moment that the Justice League was formed, and it continued to grow rapidly afterwards.
Sometime later, after Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, Vixen, and even the Wonder Woman of their own universe had joined, the Flash, together with fellow member Green Arrow visited the Gotham City-based vigilante Batman in his mansion and were greeted by his loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth, who invited them in. After Batman had also joined, the League became the main protectors of Earth. Later, while the Rann Thanagarian war contiued to grow worse and the human John Stewart was chosen as their sector's new Green Lantern, the Flash was mentioned to have been away on an unidentified mission by Martian Manhunter.

Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Speed Force Connection: The Flash absorbs the kinetic energy from the speed force, accelerating all processes of his body there by enhancing his physiology to levels far above the limits of a normal human. This also enables him to withstand the rigors of high-speed running.
- Electrokinesis: The Flash generates a lightning trail while running that he can harness. He used this ability to jumpstart a submarine engine.
- Superhuman Speed: The Flash possesses tremendous superhuman running and movement speeds, easily being the fastest member of the justice league. While trying to help Superman by preventing the kryptonite bullet that Brainiac shot at him from reaching him, he was able to run so fast that he accidentally opened a portal to another universe. He ran so fast that the Nazi soldiers couldn't see him, all while repositioning them so as not to kill them. When Steve plane was damaged and the plane was falling, he ran fast enough to not only reach the plane in time but also to outpace it. The Flash ran from one city to another in a second, and according to him, he ran from Star city to Metropolis in one second. With a combination of his speed and momentum, the Flash was able to land a powerful kick on Brainiac which sent him hurling into a building. The Flash used his superhuman speed to outrun an energy beam fired from Brainiac's machine.
- Accelerated Perception: The Flash's reaction time and the speed at which his brain processes information are heightened to a level similar to his running speed, enabling him to perceive his surroundings while traveling at high velocities. Because of this, when The Flash moves at high speeds he perceives the world around him as though it is standing still or in slow motion. When trying to save hostages from the Nazis, Flash moved fast enough that to him, he was literally walking among the Nazi soldiers.
- Superhuman Reflexes: Since his brain processing speed and perception are heightened to a level similar to his running speed, The Flash's reflexes are enhanced to superhuman levels the faster he moves. He was able to dodge the energy blast that Brainiac fired at him.
- Accelerated Metabolism: Barry's metabolism is more than 20 times that of a normal human being, thus enabling him to heal much faster than normal and have an extended health and longevity.
- Phasing: By vibrating his molecules at high speeds he can pass through objects due to the space between atoms. When the Justice Society was trapped by a mind-controlled Aquaman, Jay Garrick taught The Flash how to phase, by combining both their speed. He then used it to escape and free the Justice Society.
- Multiversal Travel: By vibrating at a different frequency he can enter another universe. Barry used this ability for the first time when he was helping Superman to stop Brianiac by trying to catch the kryptonite bullet that Brainiac shot at Superman. He was able to open a portal by vibrating at a certain frequency and running extremely fast.
- Aerokinesis: By rotating his arms extremely fast, Barry can generate strong wind vortexes. He used this ability help Steve Trevor to land his plane safely by cushioning the fall of the plane.
